Greetings, Transparency is a word that gets thrown around a lot in medical care. While the term is frequently applied to costs, its scope in the world of medical travel is expanding. In this week’s SPOTLIGHT we speak with two individuals who are seeking to bring greater transparency to the industry for distinctly different purposes. In the first instance, Dr. László Puczkó of the The Tourism Observatory for Health, Wellness and Spa is looking to increase access to data, research and academic work in order to provide researchers and other interested individuals with a more comprehensive understanding of the industry. In the second, Jim Tate of the Medical Travel Commission is aiming to give consumers a clearer understanding of what to expect of a medical travel experience through a new type of patient-experience certification. As always, we welcome your comments, story ideas and press releases. Cheers, Amanda Haar, Editor [email protected]
