Road Show Highlights in the Arabian Gulf the Outstanding Quality of Wellness and Medical Travel to Germany
By Dr. Prem Jagyasi – After last year’s successful promotional tour “Dallal fi Almania” (“Feel Good in Germany”), the German National Tourist Office (GNTO), the local affiliate of the German National Tourist Board (GNTB) in Dubai, addressed the GCC travel industry and media with a road show, which, in 2011 is particularly focussing on wellness and medical tourism.
The final stop of the road show concluded on 27th of this month in Dubai and involved a series of workshops held by institutional, medical and tourism representatives as well as specialised doctors, coming from Germany.
The staged activities included discussions, exchanges as well as one-to-one workshop sessions, which also provided extensive networking opportunities to the participants. The road show, organized in partnership with Lufthansa, finds its grounds in a GNTB’s recent study, confirming that wellness, health and medical tourism places Germany among the favourite destinations of GCC and other international travellers.
Given the increasing relevance of the health and wellness sector for Germany’s tourism, the GNTB also decided to dedicate an important part of its 2011 marketing campaign to this theme.

Swine Flu Reaches Iran from Georgia: Official
Iran has warned its people to refrain from making unnecessary trips to Georgia as the Caucasian country is origin of swine flu (H1N1). A member of National Committee for Infectious Diseases said Swine flu in Georgia has become epidemic and it has reached Iran.
Masoud Mardani said this flu is a viral disease that spreads through contact with the infected person, and the symptoms are fever, dizziness, dryness of the joints and nausea.
“People with symptoms like high fever, running nose and headache arrive in Iran from Georgia must immediately go to treatment centres.”
He further added that people should observe personal hygiene and the person with the disease should cover his/her mouth and nose when sneezing and coughing because swine flu, such as any other cold, is transmitted through contact, coughing and sneezing.
There have been no unusual cases of the flu and its types, including H1N1 (swine flu) in the country so far.
This type of influenza is common in the northern hemisphere, including Iran, every year.

Understanding the budget allocation for health in India
Amidst growing anticipations about the 2019 interim budget by the present government, let us look back at the budget 2018 and compare it with the earlier ones to understand the amount of focus the public health sector receives in India.
The spending on health by budget 2018-19 shows a rise of about 13% over what was allotted for this sector in the earlier budget. As part of this budget, the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley declared the globe’s largest national health insurance program.
The budget also sanctioned scholarships for about 1,000 doctorate engineering students at the IIT and IIS. Construction of 18.8 million toilets across the country was announced to be completed by 2019.
