Volume 4, Issue 23: Shawn Murphy, Executive Director, Thought Leadership & Innovation Foundation and the Limb Loss and Preservation Registry (LLPR) Discusses Why Outcomes Data Will Define the Future of Digital Health

Dear Colleagues,

I am excited to share my recently published article titled, “Forecasting Medical Costs Enables Timely Intervention,” published in the August issue of the Self-Insurer. In this article, we discuss the growing role of predictive analytics in healthcare, the challenges of forecasting medical costs and how organizations can use data to better anticipate and manage high-cost claims. Read more on the Self-Insurer section of our website, where you can access my monthly articles written for the publication.

I am also delighted to spotlight a recently published book authored by Bill Oldham, co-founder and president, AscellaHealth, and co-founder and chairman, Thought Leadership & Innovation Foundation (TLI). Titled “Beyond Better Data: What Actually Changes Health Care?”, this book explores how organizations can transform data into meaningful action that improves patient care, strengthens collaboration, and delivers better outcomes. Drawing on decades of leadership across healthcare, nonprofit, and public sectors, Bill Oldham presents a practical, human-centered approach to innovation, interoperability, and using information to improve quality of life.

Purchase the book here.

This issue brings you a feature article authored by Shawn Murphy, Executive Director, TLI and LLPR, discussing why outcomes data is becoming increasingly important in healthcare. Using the recent CMS Medicare Advantage Final Rule as a starting point, Murphy looks at how better data can help providers, payers and digital health organizations demonstrate value, improve care and make more informed decisions. She also considers what this shift toward measurable outcomes could mean for medical travel and healthcare systems around the world.

Please stay safe and tell me how you are breaking ground in these growing industries.
